Sentence Construction is a new body of text-based works about the hilarious, humiliating and sometimes inappropriate language that appears on the fringes of this neurotypical world, where a lot of it is ... well, confusing.

There are rules, subtleties and unspoken clues as to when to talk, to laugh, and to shut up. Navigating this with what's considered a different brain, can be exhausting. It can also be joyous.

Over decades, Saskia has constructed systems and scripts to translate and exist. Built catalogues of dos and don'ts. Lists of compliments and micro-expressions, tricks to get others talking, and honestly, ways to drug others with their own dopamine so they give her some grace.
