‘I sit here mesmerised watching the glowing campfire ambers rising, transforming the sky into the cosmos of stars.’
The works are a response to the breathtaking spectacle the universe displays on any cloudless nights. The totality of the cosmos is immense, the space between stars and galaxies are nothing more than gargantuan. Over the ages artists of all cultural backgrounds have ascribed meaning and significance to this remarkable realm. These works are also an acknowledgement of the importance indigenous artists have represented in their paintings, the use of natural pigments are a response to positioning the night sky firmly within the Southern hemisphere.
