Olivia Gates is an emerging artist whose practice exists between Ngunnawal / Ngunawal / Ngambri Country and Dharawal Country. Formally trained in glass making practices at the ANU School of Art and Design, Gates explores notions of generational memory, personal belonging, environmental conservation and reflections of ongoing impacts of her lineage on Country. 

In this new body of work, Gates navigates experiences of losing, loss and lost and the loves that weave between those states. 

Olivia Gates is the current Artist in residence at the M16 Artspace Environmental Artist Residency program, made possible through the generous sponsorship of Canberra philanthropist Thomas Boulton. Gates's residency is further supported by Canberra Glassworks and Megalo Print Studio.
