THE DOGS BARK BUT THE CARAVAN ROLLS ON

Bennett Miller

13th July - 25th August 2007

‘The Dogs Bark but the Caravan rolls on’ is an old Arab proverb illustrating a situation where many minor characters may be vocal and loud; but the main idea or project will continue to progress. Bennett Miller appropriately uses this title for the ninth instalment of his Golf War series, a satirical view of the Gulf War that reflects what seems to be a never-ending struggle. As critics of the American led ‘Coalition’ continue to beat their fists against the operation in Iraq, the tanks keep rolling in. (Cheree Mack, 2007)
